It may not feel like hockey season yet in Minnesota with all the fantastic weather we’ve been having, but believe it or not, the Minnesota Wild already have a month of games under their belt! Goalie Devin Dubnyk has been the team’s best player so far, posting a phenomenal 1.46 goals against average, good for second best in the NHL.
Innovative Office Solutions is the proud sponsor of the Charity of the Month program with the Minnesota Wild. The program brings exposure to a different Minnesota charity each month throughout the NHL season. The Minnesota Wild Charity of the Month for November 2016 is A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation.
In 2007, a small group of lung cancer patients, along with committed family members and their caregivers from Fairview Southdale Hospital, created the first Twin Cities Lung Run/Walk. The success of this event led to the formation of A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation in 2008. Thanks to a talented and committed volunteer board of directors and the addition of a professional staff in 2012, the foundation has grown steadily.
A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation | Increased Research, Increased Outreach, Increased Support
A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation’s mission is to be a leading contributor to the cure of lung cancer by focusing on disease awareness, early detection and lung cancer treatments. A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation fights lung cancer by funding innovative research and raising awareness through education and patient support.
Knowing that awareness, early detection and improved treatments will save lives, A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation has created three program vehicles for carrying out its mission. They believe these programs will lead to: increased research, increased outreach (especially in low income communities where lung cancer is most prevalent), and increased support for patients who often face this cancer with little or no support.
A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation knows that increased research efforts and public awareness will improve the survivor rate. Most of their board of directors and growing number of supporters, now numbering over 10,000, have experienced lung cancer or have lost a loved one to this deadly disease.
November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month and the Wild will have A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation representatives on hand to honor them at their game on November 17 against the Boston Bruins.
