IOS and Minnesota Wild, Wild About Reading program
 
Winners announced!
In an effort to promote the importance of reading to students in grades K-6 and to give them an incentive to read outside the classroom, the Minnesota Wild developed the new “Wild About Reading” program presented by Innovative Office Solutions. K-6 classrooms were asked to create a cheer incorporating their love for reading, school, hockey and the Minnesota Wild.
 
We received many excellent cheers from classrooms and narrowed it down to the top 12. Those 12 cheers were available online for public voting. A whopping 65,194 votes were submitted! 
 
  • The top two classrooms will win the HAT TRICK Prize: A trip to the Xcel Energy Center to watch a Wild practice and the opportunity to have a Wild player read to the class at the arena (includes transportation, Xcel Energy Center tour, lunch and a special Wild goodie bag for up to 30 students/chaperones).
  • The other 10 classroom finalists will win the GOAL LINE Prize: A Wild player’s wife, girlfriend or Wild staff member will travel to the schools and read in the classrooms.
The “Wild About Reading” Program was launched in 2004 to help increase student literacy by providing incentives to read outside the classroom.  Since it’s inception, more than 13,500 students from 350 schools throughout the state of Minnesota participated in the “Wild about Reading” program.
