Anyone who follows sports knows that the third month of every calendar year is lovingly referred to “March Madness.” It’s a term that is most commonly associated with the NCAA Basketball Tournament, but here in Minnesota it also applies to all the high school winter sports tournaments taking place. For March of 2017, however, “March Madness” also applies to our Minnesota Wild, who continue to lead the Western Conference in points and are among the current favorites for this year’s Stanley Cup.
Innovative Office Solutions is the proud sponsor of the Charity of the Month program in partnership with the Minnesota Wild. The program brings exposure to a different Minnesota charity each month throughout the NHL season. The Minnesota Wild charity of the month for March, 2017 is Free Bikes 4 Kidz.
Free Bikes 4 Kidz is a non-profit organization geared toward helping all kids ride into a happier, healthier childhood by providing bikes to those most in need. The public donates gently used bikes, and the charity organizes thousands of volunteers to clean and refurbish them, and then they give them away to kids in need.
The charity is a passionate group of people who love giving back. It’s their goal to help every child feel the joy and freedom of riding their first bike.

Free Bikes 4 Kidz uses a pretty simple methodology to find available bikes for children. Every year 25 million bikes are sold in the US. One-third of those bikes are 20” wheel-size, or smaller. Since kids grow like weeds, over 8 million bikes are virtually outgrown each year. This endless supply makes for solid sustainability for the non-profit charity.
Like most charities, however, Free Bikes 4 Kidz is dependent on community involvement to remain successful. You can get involved by donating a bike or contributing financially. The charity is always looking for volunteers. Donate a bike, time, or money and help kids ‘go places.’
- Donate a bike: Free Bikes 4 Kidz will take your dusty donations of kid’s and adult bikes, but we find ourselves especially in need of smaller bikes, even tricycles.
- Donate financially: Your donations will help get more kids back on bikes. Free Bikes 4 Kidz is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible.
Free Bikes 4 Kidz awareness night will be highlighted when the Wild host the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday, March 7 at Xcel Energy Center. Innovative Office Solutions is proud to sponsor Free Bikes 4 Kidz in partnership with the Minnesota Wild as the March charity of the month.
